The Quilting Divas

After lots of discussion about writing a book about our quilting adventures together as a "sisterhood of quilters" I've decided a blog is a great way to start! Who knows, tho', one day we may have that book and you can say you "knew us when".

Our little group started way before I came on board, back to when several of them met on a regular basis with a group. Eventually 5 of them started meeting locally in one another's homes...that is where I come in. On 9-11 I stopped by my neighbor's house, only to interrupt one of their bagged lunches. Little did they know that I was looking for someone to teach me how to quilt...a perfect fit and we became "US"...the Quilting Divas!

There are 6 of us in our "group" and as we blog we will begin to unveil our journey together. What binds us together as sisters is our love for God and the relationship we have and share with Him through one another. We've share happy times...raising kids, weddings, births of grandchildren, going back to school, starting businesses, going back to work...and we've shared sorrow...deaths of loved ones, divorce, aging parents.

Welcome to our story...our quilts...our favorite recipes...our tips...and our journey. Happy Quilting!

Retreat #7

I am finally taking the time to upload some of our retreat pictures!  I so loved my week w/you girls!  It just inspired me and filled me with so much joy!  Thank you ladies for being my family!

Here are some things I worked on...
I was so sick of Blue when I was done w/this!  It is on the machine at That Little Quilt Shop, ready to be quilted and finished!!

I finished this baby quilt for Cady Bell, the baby of Tyler's 4th grade teacher that was one of his biggest advocates!  Baby Bell has it now and they loved the giraffes!

Cady has an older brother, 19 months old, that just moved into his big boy room...so I took him this as a big brother gift...I had no idea his new room was decorated with a soccer theme, so this is perfect and when he opened it, he said "ooo....ahhhh" and sat on it and played.  It was so cute!

I started a quilt that I've wanted to do since I was a little girl.  When the quilting bug hit me, while I was at my granny's house, I asked her to teach me how to do a "Log Cabin" quilt.  She said I should start with "A Trip Around the World"...well, I lost interest quickly and never have done a Log Cabin, until this retreat....here is the start of it.  I need to add borders and it will be done!  I loved it...and cherished every bit of it b/c it reminded me of Granny!

I'm ready to go back!

  2. They all came out so cute, Cindy! Nathan's quilt just went to the longarm quilter's on Thursday. I finally met her in person, usually I just drop off at Cottonwood and she picks up. I haven't done any real sewing since the retreat. I've been working on house projects getting it ready to list...tomorrow.

    Love the Dental Hygienist Diva!

I see that Steve is following us...Hi Steve!
